Chick Singers baybe!
I will be holding the bass position in the house band for the newly launched Madison 'Chick Singer Night' at The Brink Lounge. The inagural show will be Thursday Dec. 10.
This is an international organization with local events regularly held in about a dozen cities. Each show features 5 guest female artists/songwriters ranging from seasoned pro to newbie performers who've never worked with a full band. Each performer will be doing 3 songs each with a short set by a token male counterpart (the 'Are You Man Enough' slot.) We are already working on the second show for Feb. 11, 2010. Props to Beth Kille for organizing this thing!
This looks to be a well attended show at a comfortable club with a real variety of music. Details in the 'emblygigs' listing and at the CSN website: http://www.chicksingernight.com/
Rev it up
I am currently in rehearsal with the Getaway Drivers for a number of upcoming shows in and around Madison. Look for us on Mad Toast Live at the Brink on 10/6. This show is part interview/part live performance and will be podcast as well. Here is a link to their schtick...
We rock, we roll...
...we move , we groove.

Jay Bennett is not gone
I just happened on the news of Jay's passing this Sunday. I can't really call him a friend but over the years I have come to know him through mutual friends and of course the music he made. The word 'Integrity' comes to mind. While most of us were carousing down on Green Street, Jay was down at the Rose Bowl pickin' with the country vets soaking up the real. As Don Gerard once said, Jay was "pound for pound the best guitar player in town".
Please play 'Long Time Missing' from my downloads page to hear Jay cranking it w/ Tommy Keene, John Richardson and me. Jay Bennett is not gone.
Spring sprouts 2 new projects
After a long long winter of discontent, new music on the horizon....
An idea hatched last year finally takes root. 'Kyle Henderson and Blue Eyed Soul' begins rehearsal next week for a June debut. This band is built around former Producers member Kyle H. backed by Micheal Brenneis, Dan Kennedy and I. Keyboards TBA. Hot Fun in the Summertime!
I have also been rehearsing another band out here in the wild Uplands. Freshly christened "Outside the Blues', we are a quartet with a Hammond organ (yeah!) flirting with a blues/rock/R+B repitoire. Dates are booked for the summer.
I will also be reprising my role of stand in bassist for The Getaway Drivers at a June 'Lunchtime on the Square' performance.
Check the emblygigs page for details about all these and other upcoming shows.
